In the Dominican Republic, solid waste has been managed through its final disposal in open-air dumps, where the waste is dumped, incinerated, and then buried. This process poses a considerable threat to public health, safety, and the environment, significantly affecting waterways and the air through greenhouse gas emissions.
The initiative proposes an integrated solid waste management project in the municipalities of Puerto Plata and San Francisco de Macorís, covering the entire process from collection and transportation to the valorization and final disposal of solid waste.
