This PPP project aims to design, to manage land acquisition, to rehabilitate and build, to finance, to operate, and to maintain Duarte Port and a complementary tourist facility in Arroyo Barril, Samaná. It will transform the area into a world-class tourist destination by adapting the existing pier to accommodate Oasis-class cruise ships (with a combined capacity of up to 8,500 passengers and crew), by constructing a modern maritime terminal, and by developing a theme park inspired by Dominican culture, cuisine, and traditions. This initiative will leverage the existing infrastructure through the necessary improvements to boost tourism, strengthen the local economy, and position Samaná as a key hub for the global cruise industry.

LOCATION
The Dominican Republic has important tourist poles. The tourist industry in the Samaná peninsula is captured almost entirely by the municipalities of Las Terrenas, Las Galeras and Samaná, which offer small hotels and luxury real estate tourist complexes.
This proposal takes advantage of the old infrastructure of Duarte Port in the municipality of Arroyo Barril in the province of Samaná, where approximately 17,000 people live.
