The executive director of the DGAPP, Mr. Sigmund Freund and the technical team of this office received the first private initiative of this management for the purposes of review. It was delivered by Mr. Hector Jose Rizek who was accompanied by a delegation from APP Quisqueya SRL.
The initiative presented for the Ambar Highway includes the construction, operation, and maintenance by a private agent for this highway, which will connect in less than 25 minutes the provinces of Santiago and Puerto Plata. It has been received for review in compliance with the provisions of Law 47-20 regarding Public-Private Partnerships, its application regulations and the guidelines issued by the institution for these purposes.
From this moment on, the evaluation phase begins, which will be carried out by the technical team of this Office in coordination with the Ministry of the Presidency, the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications.
The Ambar Highway will positively impact society and mark a milestone in the correct application of the Public Private Partnership modality in the Dominican Republic within the framework of Law 47-20. It is a sustainable project that will boost tourism and the economy of the region.
