13The executive director of the DGAPP, Sigmund Freund, visited the province of Montecristi and the Port of Manzanillo where he held meetings with representatives of the province and made an extensive tour of the area where the projects in Public Private Partnerships will be carried out.
During the visit, the executive director was accompanied by the Provincial Governor, Nelsy Cruz, the National Director of Council of development of the special border zone, Erodis Diaz, the director of the Port of Manzanillo, Nicolas Cruz and other representatives of the community.
About the Port of Manzanillo:
A few weeks ago, President Luis Abinader announced that the government will execute a regional project to expand the operations of the Manzanillo maritime terminal, with the purpose of boosting the economy of the area through tourism and exports.
The Port of Manzanillo project will create thousands of jobs in the northeast of the country. The development plan involves extending all port activities, so that more ships and vessels may come. Likewise, an industrial complex will also be built in the area, made up of shipyards, a natural gas deposit and natural gas energy production, as well as free trade zones and factories.
