Santo Domingo. The World Association of Public Private Partnerships Units and Professionals (WAPPP) announced the incorporation of the Agency of Public Private Partnerships (DGAPP) as a full member of WAPPP.
WAPPP is a global, non-profit association based in Geneva, which brings together all public and private interested parties in the field of public-private partnerships (PPPs).
This institution includes public PPP units, corporate investors, financial investors, and consultants from all sectors. For the WAPPP, PPPs represent a tool for the development and achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and promote best practices and exchange of knowledge and experiences among its members.
WAPPP President, Ziad Alexandre Hayek, stated that “we are delighted to welcome the Agency of Public Private Partnerships to our membership, and we look forward to collaborating with his work team under the leadership of Sigmund Freund, with the aim of benefiting the community of PPP professionals in the Dominican Republic and throughout the region”.
Likewise, the executive director of DGAPP, Sigmund Freund, highlighted that “being a member of WAPPP allows us to have an international and updated vision of what is happening in the world in terms of PPPs; in addition to the possibility of professionalizing the technicians of the Agency in terms of public-private partnerships.
Similarly, the official assured that “being part of the WAPPP provides the DGAPP with a communication channel to promote the portfolio of PPP projects in the Dominican Republic and gives them access to a wide network of consultants specialized in the structuring of PPP projects and a network of contacts with PPP units worldwide”.
